Mr Asif Parkar is a highly experienced consultant orthopaedic surgeon specialising in hip and knee surgery, including joint replacement, ACL reconstruction, osteotomy, arthroscopy, robotic-assisted procedures, joint preservation, sports injuries, and revision surgery.
With over 20 years’ experience, he practises privately at Spire Hartswood, Spire London East, and Nuffield Health Brentwood, alongside his NHS role at Queen’s and King George Hospitals. He also serves as lead for infection control in trauma and orthopaedics at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust.
Mr Parkar trained on the prestigious Royal London programme and completed fellowships in Calgary, Barts Health, and Guy’s & St Thomas’, gaining expertise in complex arthroplasty and sports knee surgery. He is among the few UK surgeons with fellowship training in direct anterior hip replacement, a minimally invasive approach that enables same-day discharge. He also holds a degree in computer navigation and robotic-assisted joint replacement.
An active researcher, Mr Parkar has authored book chapters and published in peer-reviewed journals. He contributes to training as an ARCP panel member for the Royal London programme and has been recognised with both the NHS Innovation Prize and a fellowship research award. His approach is holistic, patient-centred, and evidence-based.
