Mr Sunil Kumar is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon with extensive experience, practising in both London and Essex. He has a particular focus on knee surgery and sports-related injuries, regularly carrying out procedures such as arthroscopic surgery, knee replacement, osteoarthritis treatments, and other joint replacement operations. In addition, he provides orthopaedic care for children.
Mr Kumar began his medical career in 1989 at the London Hospital Medical College. He went on to complete basic surgical training followed by advanced orthopaedic training between 1994 and 2000. In 1999, he expanded his expertise with specialist fellowships in New Zealand and Australia, concentrating on knee surgery and sports trauma.
Alongside his clinical practice, he has contributed significantly to research in orthopaedics. His work has explored cartilage transplantation, advanced biological treatments for arthritis, and strategies to speed up recovery after surgery. He has also pioneered enhanced rehabilitation programmes for conditions such as traumatic osteochondral injuries, ligament reconstructions, and complex knee stabilisation.
Dedicated to innovation in patient care, Mr Kumar continues to adopt the latest surgical technologies, including robotic-assisted techniques and customised 3D-printed knee replacements.
